Perfection?

disclaimer:
this is NOT a rant, nor does it target any person in question. take it as what you will. if you aren't happy with this post, go hug your pillow and pet monkey. it isn't offensive in any way.

and if this touches one's nerves, one had better think twice about what is mentioned here.

perfection is an endless pursuit - chasing the dragon, if one wills.

is compromising to a certain extent a crime?
one cannot possibly expect to please everyone.
surely some compromise has to occur.

how does one understand that compromise may not necessarily be submission?
Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego compromised.
they had to take new names, new homes, and new lives.
but not once did they submit to the world.
they compromised where they had to, but they never succumbed to the pressure.

refraining from a certain measure of compromise is nearly impossible in this time and age, unless one is anything short of being the proverbial hermit in the mountains.

taking everything seriously/literally does not go down well. each and every statement by any one person which is remotely illegal in one's eyes is shot down with much evidence and no oppurtunity to refute the statement.

why then does the pursuit of perfection become numero uno priority?
this very pursuit deposes any good intention or priority that has previously been number one.

justification of this pursuit won't work either.

granted, one does not have to support everything morally gray or wrong that one's friend says. if the friend does something wrong, he/she would then deserve it.
however, if one does try too hard to refute any such statement, to find fault with anything not according to one's rules or principles, one ends up stumbling one's friends as well.

people have or are going to affected in some way or other.
either way, somebody's gonna step on one's toes too often if one keeps one's feet in the way.
to quote: damned if you do, and damned if you don't.

DISCLAIMER. DAMNED AND DAMN are NOT the same thing.
and this isn't being used in a context where i'm damning anything.
THIS.IS.A.QUOTE.

if everything's all fine and dandy where everything's perfect - wake up.
it obviously isn't.

on a final note:
there is a HUGE difference in being ashamed of something and avoiding being a public nuisance. one has to discern what one is.

the real world awaits.
life isn't a fairy tale where everything has to end happily ever after.

how does one hold a lit candle in the darkness if one does not dare step into the darkness with a lit candle?
